Business Graph Software Industries Ltd., founded in 1992, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tochna Lainyan Ltd., a developer of financial software solutions since 1987. It is the largest financial real-time information services provider in Israel, with a steady annual growth rate of 20% in revenues over the last 5 years.

Challenge
|
To develop a Windows application that would receive real-time financial data from multiple Telnet connections to the Global Trade Information Services (GTIS) server, visualize them as tables in a user-friendly interface, and provide via DDE to third-party applications such as MS Excel. Additionally, a separate authentication and data server had to be implemented to allow limiting the number of sessions for each user and to provide financial data from other data providers.
The interface of the application should be localized into three languages: English, Russian, and Hebrew. The input data should be retrieved from up to 50 Telnet connections, each one providing real-time updates in the form of textual screens with different layouts. These screens should be parsed by Real4X, visualized as tables with the layout similar to the original, and sent to the DDE clients.

Solution
|
Real4X had been developed using Glaviera’s original technologies for GUI localization, for creating layouts of data tables, and for implementation of the DDE server. An XML-based script language had been developed for description of table layouts and for further extension of the list of tables.
Real4X GUI consisted of Unicode-compliant multi-SDI data tables and a system tray agent, which served the Telnet connections, data caching, DDE output, and allowed to launch the necessary data tables quickly from the pop-up menu.
An authentication and data servers had been implemented including an administration tool with web interface.

Result
|
Real4X allowed Business Graph to improve the service of providing real-time financial data by introducing new data tables, possibility of data export via DDE, and by localization of the GUI. The representation of data significantly improved – from a textual Telnet console to a modern graphical interface. Real4X simplified access to multiple data tables, and allowed Business Graph to control the amount of data accessible to users by means of the authentication server.
